There is nothing more beautiful to me than seeing a client come to understand and claim their own inner strength, worth and sense of being. Seeing a client come to realise their own innate ability to respond to whatever it is that life has presented to them is very powerful. It’s having someone walk away from their sessions knowing and feeling more of themselves that is why I do the work that I do; this means the world to me.
Warm, friendly and a lot of fun. We all go through things in life that can be heavy, difficult and hard to understand, but equally so, there are times when we can look back on our troubles and see how much we have learnt and grown from them – sometimes we just need a little help getting there. Learning to laugh at ourselves and the absurdity of life can be very healing, and so although my approach is very deep and connecting, honouring the difficulties and troubles we can face, it can also be light and fun, supporting us to move through them and get to the other side.
What you get with me is a very worldly, sensitive, deeply caring, insightful and playful counsellor. I work especially well with men, particularly men in living and working in regional and rural spaces, but I have a long history of working with anyone, from various ages, genders, backgrounds and locations.
I am a generalist counsellor, so comfortable can work with traditional troubles such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem etc. but also am specialist counsellor, working in the space of sexual health and sexual wellbeing. This can include discussing topics relating to sexuality, gender, relationship difficulties, sexual dysfunctions, pregnancy and more.
I particularly enjoy working with people to support them to find their own voice and build the confidence within themselves to say no to the things in the life they don’t want and learn how to say yes to the things which they do.
In the Renaissance period, I’m what they would have called a ‘polymath’ – writer, musician, designer, events manager, promoter, presenter, academic, fitness coach, dancer, manager, performer, chef – this list goes on. There is not much that I’m not afraid to put my hand to! I spend most of my down time working on my various projects, hanging out with my partner, keeping fit in the gym or exploring topics relating to philosophy, science, religion, art or psychology.
That we are far more amazing then we could ever realise and there is nothing which we can’t a) get through or b) come back from.
